In a market where liquidity remains a significant challenge for investors in the UK and exits across the private markets have been difficult to achieve in recent years, the sale of Numecent marks the third consecutive year in which Symvan has delivered an exit to its investors, following portfolio exits in both 2024 and 2025.

Numecent is the creator of Cloudpaging®, which packages Windows applications into isolated containers independent of the underlying operating system, and Cloudpager®, a cloud-based management console for provisioning, updating, rolling back, removing and metering applications across physical and virtual Windows endpoints.

The acquirer, Citrix Systems Inc., a subsidiary of Cloud Software Group, Inc., a substantial PE-owned software business, completed its acquisition of Numecent in July 2026, resulting in a 1.23x cash return for Symvan investors in the 26-27 tax year and a 1.53x return when including EIS income tax relief.

The Symvan team first invested in the DaaS (Desktop as a Service) company, Numecent, in September 2012, after being invited to participate alongside industry peers, Endeavour Ventures. The sale of Numecent marks Symvan’s 7th exit from SEIS and EIS qualifying companies.

This consistency reflects the importance of a disciplined investment approach, careful company selection and a long-term commitment to supporting businesses as they grow towards successful realisations.

Kealan Doyle, CEO of Symvan Capital

‘From our first conversations with the team, it was clear that Numecent was tackling a genuine problem with a differentiated approach.’

‘What particularly attracted us was Cloudpaging – its patented technology and the ability to help enterprises in regulated industries modernise how they deliver applications. Backing companies that solve real enterprise pain points is central to our investment strategy, and Numecent is a strong early example of that.’

After Symvan’s initial investment, Numecent went on to receive funding through additional rounds over the years. Like many early-stage businesses, Numecent’s journey was not without its challenges. The years between 2012 and 2016 were a particularly difficult period, but, under new leadership, the business turned a corner and spent the following decade developing the technology, capabilities and market position that ultimately made it an attractive acquisition opportunity.

Fast forward to July 2026, Citrix, the buyer, provides the reliable and resilient foundation that customers across mission-critical industries — including healthcare, financial services and government — rely on to operate securely and at scale.

The acquisition of Numecent, further strengthens Citrix® DaaS capabilities for cloud-based application delivery across Windows environments, helping organisations simplify application packaging and image management while reducing complexity and costs.

Kealan Doyle, CEO of Symvan Capital;

“Early-stage investing requires patience and a long-term perspective. Building a successful business rarely follows a straight line, and our role as an investor is to recognise potential, support businesses where they need it through the challenges they face and give them the opportunity to realise that potential over time.

Experiences like Numecent’s have helped shape the investment approach we follow today at Symvan Capital. We are proud this sale of Numecent marks our seventh exit delivered to investors.

Each exit is backed by a different journey, but all reinforce our belief in the importance of careful company selection, active support where needed and the conviction to take a long-term view, a belief and strategy we’ve spent over a decade curating and shaping so that Symvan investors get to benefit from the years of experience with real and tangible results ”
