Budget Breakdown: What It Means for Advisers and Investors

The Autumn Budget is announced on 28th October. Within hours, the headlines, hot takes and conflicting opinions will arrive. Very little of it will tell you what the announcement means for your investments, your clients or your planning.

That’s why we’re hosting Budget Breakdown the very next day. We’ve brought together specialists from across early-stage investing and the wider industry to give you an expert read on the announcement while it’s still fresh.

Whether you advise on EIS, SEIS and VCT allocations or invest in them yourself, this session is designed to help you separate what matters from what doesn’t.

What we’ll cover

  • What the announcement confirmed, what changed and what stayed the same
  • How the Budget affects EIS, SEIS and VCT investing and the reliefs and rules you plan around
  • How policy decisions land on the early-stage businesses these investments back
  • What to watch as the detail emerges, and how to weigh growth, risk and tax efficiency heading into 2027

Speakers

Stephen Jones, Chartered Financial Planner and Managing Director, Clear Solutions Wealth and Tax Management; Board Member, EIS Association (EISA). Stephen sits on the board of the not-for-profit trade body that engages with HM Treasury, HMRC and the FCA on EIS and SEIS. He has advised clients since 1990 and was named EISA Financial Planner of the Year in 2020.

Ewoud Karelse, Senior Analyst – VCT, EIS, SEIS and IHT Business Relief, Evelyn Partners

More than 20 years of analysing tax-efficient investments, across Allenbridge, Towry, Tilney Smith & Williamson and Evelyn Partners, means Ewoud knows how to read a rule change. He assesses the managers and strategies behind VCTs, EIS, SEIS and IHT Business Relief, and will bring that analyst’s lens to the Budget. Ewoud led our Under the Microscope webinar in February, and returns to Budget Breakdown with a fresh set of questions.
