City University of London and ARuVR have created an extended reality design skills lab in the heart of London.

The facility allows XR designers to create AR and VR resources for its undergraduate programmes, includes a motion capture studio to help XR designers build realistic, immersive XR resources and uses ARuVR’s XR content authoring platform.

The partnership between the University and its technology partner, ARuVR, provides courses for XR programme designers in industry.

The centre opened in January and the team from City University of London and ARuVR invited Learning News along to find out all about it. Features: from the University's School of Science and Technology, Executive Dean, Rajkumar Roy and Senior Workshop Technician, Keith Pamment, and from ARuVR, CEO and Founder, Frank Furnari.

Rajkumar Roy, School of Science & Technology, City University of London:

“To take this technology and enhance education, that's my first priority.”

“My vision is to democratise immersive technology, that's what this centre is about.”

Frank Furnari, CEO & Founder, ARuVR:

“It's important not only to teach how to build this technology and experiences using AR and VR, but also how to design and manage XR rollouts at scale.”
